Everyone needs to bounce
So I’m currently sitting at a dinning room table with Mr Daniel Weeks at his parents house making what is fondly known in the music business as “bounces”. What on earth is a bounce I hear you say. A “bounce” is making a single stereo sound file of all the different audio tracks that we have recorded, basically making it into an mp3 we can listen to. As I write I have no idea what I’m going to say next, so read on to find out if this post is going to have some sort of substance!
It’s been a slightly nervous experience sitting here and listening back to quite a few tracks that I haven’t heard for a few weeks. My thought process goes something like this. Firstly I begin to have doubts.. I wonder if what we’ve spent hours pouring our hearts and souls into will actually meet the high expectations I have. Then if the initial listen begins well I will try and pick out the parts of the track that I don’t like, or the things that are missing. Once past that I begin to get excited and dream about what it’s going to become. Maybe this is a reflection on how I can sometimes live life? To me, bouncing sounds fun, and should be fun. Lesson for today – Get rid of doubt and negativity, it does no-one any good. It’s time to bounce!
